Hello

I am sorry to read about what has happened.  It can feel especially difficult when something like this is picked up through a routine test rather than because it was suspected, so I can appreciate that you all must still be feeling very shocked.

It is a bit to soon to try and get an idea of what is likely to happen next or what his outlook might be like.  His doctors will need to do some further tests and investigations to decide what stage the Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia (CLL) is (how advanced it is) before you can get a clear picture of his outlook or what treatment he might need.   We have some information about CLL here   which it might be helpful to read.

When you have a bit more information from his medical team about his situation please do get back to us if you have further questions or want to talk things through.  It might help to have a chat with one of our nurses on our helpline on freephone 0808 800 4040 when you have a bit more information.

Take care

Martin

Hi

thanks so so much for

your reply…. his consultant said he is at the watch and wait stage it’s quite early…. he is not asymptomatic… i think I will call a few specialists in that area and see if it’s worth having the stem cell transplant…… his uncle also has this but he is 74…. just a shock xx
