Well, this has come as bit of a shock. Yesterday my mum was diagnosed with breast cancer, it still dosent seem real and i keep thinking why my mum? But thinking about it why not my mum. The doctors have said they are feeling very positive about her treatment, they are saying they are looking to cure not treat, this dose make me feel better but can she really be cured?
I am sorry to so many of you that have had this, to be told over the phone is the worst call to ever take, the week we waited trying to act normal when you knew that something wasnt right. Im sorry if im blabbing on but im really worried about her, can she be cured i really dont know.
They are saying that if the cancer hasnt spread to the lymth nodes she will be ok. I can only hope and pray this is the case.

Sorry to hear this wretched news. Few of us every expect to hear it. I was super fit ate well had stopped drinking alcohol and smoking. It was a horrific blow to be diagnosed with throat cancer. There are cures but I had NO idea of the brutality of these cures. God help us all it’s a tough road. Hugs.

so sorry to read your post. Just wanted to pop in and give you some comfort. Breast cancer treatments have come a long way and deaths have fallen quite considerably. Also, I want to say that even if her lymph nodes are affected it’s still ok, it’s not the end of the road.
I take it you don’t know the treatment plan yet? I had surgery, chemotherapy, rads, herceptin, bisphosphonates and hormone inhibitors….yes…it sounds like a lot but that was my treatment plan tailored to me, and your mum will have one tailored to her…
she will be ok….let her know I’m thinking of her xx
ps…and the best bit??? I had my first mammogram results 1st Feb and I’m in the clear! So there you are, there are lots of us in the clear thanks to our wonderful NHS…and your mum will be one of them ❤️

Firstly can i say thank you for replying back to me secondly can i say your amazing, its so good to hear your on the mend and that youve beat cancers butt…
I havent been to any of mums appointments so am a little unsure as to what they might do, even mum said she was a little confused, as you know when you hear you mind just goes blank.
They seem very positive but we can only hope, i know thinks hve changed now and things have moved on, its so good to hear from someone thats been there and done and beat it.
People moan about our NHS, and i was of of those people, i always had that stupid saying charity starts at home, what a lie that was, your all amazing people and the staff and the NHS are amazing.

Im so sorry to hear this, i hope your on the mend or going in that dorection, its a scary thing. One day your normal the next your not, keep fighting this and you will be another one of those who has kicked cancers butt.
This group is amazin, full of amazing people, i only wished i could help you all.

Hi Ross, If the doctors say they are looking to cure her then it’s true. They may be economical with the truth sometimes but they do not lie. And certainly it’s best if the breast cancer hasn’t affected the lymph nodes. But there are lots of women here whose lymph nodes were affected, but who have been effectively cured. They may still endure the stress of regular scans. That’s something we all know about here. But your Mum has a great chance.
It takes time for everything to sink in. You and your Mum have had a terrible shock. But you will soon start feeling a little better. Good luck, Harry

Sorry to hear that you’ve found out such hard news but glad they’ve caught it soon enough to be able to help her – onwards and upwards from here!
My mum was recently diagnosed and it has also spread to her lymph nodes but they seem fairly positive about it all but it is still a lot to take in and very hard. Please don’t underestimate how hard it is for you and your family too – it’s not nice seeing someone you love going through something so tough but make sure you look after yourself too as you’re a very important person in this whole process!

That’s just it …it’s always something that happens to others. I guess we now are those others. Our son was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia last August he is 25. Had a stem cell transplant last Friday our daughter was the donor . We hope he will make a good recovery.
Our niece is now 6 years in remission from breast cancer . Please take hope from this.

thank you for reaching out. Im so sorry to hear about your son, its scary im only 25 too, what a brave young man its bad enough seeing my mum go through this but could i at such a young age? His remarkable! I really hope everything works out ok for him, its great to hear about your neice, storys like this keep me going.
Please do keep me updated with your son, i really wish him well, not that he knows me but tell him from me not to take life to serious, have fun and bloody enjoy him self.
i hope your ok too, its just as hard for the carers. Im here if you ever fancy a chat
