I have extremely bad health anxiety and have been a wreck recently thinking the worst. It started with bleeding between periods and lower back pain/discomfort in pelvis and groin in the same side. I also now have a lump on my left side neck/shoulder (trapezius muscle) and I am just so scared – it’s making my arm on that side feel heavy and my shoulder feels weird too. I want to get it checked out quickly as I am making myself sick with worry and I don’t know what else to do but none of the GP surgeries are open near me and Bupa said it could be an even longer wait with them than the NHS due to covid. The worst possible time to be going through this and I just don’t feel right at all but don’t know if that’s the anxiety or another red flag.

Are you sure they are not open? Most surgeries are operating by phone calls, taking details and then a GP calls you back. Try them on Monday when they open again. Best wishes, Carol

Hi P123,
I too have experienced similar to you, without the bleeding or lump in side, but a small bleed after intercourse. I spoke with my GP earlier this week via a telephone consult and they have referred me to gynaecology at my local hospital for a colposcopy and will send me for blood tests too. They say I should be seen within 2 weeks but we shall see. Just wanted to say try your gp again as I’m sure they will be taking phone consults. Good luck x

I agree with the others on here. Please try your GP again. I had some brown discharge between periods. Phoned GP who saw me next day. Now have to go for a colposcopy as abnormalities found in smear.
I am scared stiff but I know I need to get this sorted. I hope you can get some reassurance by seeing your gp.

Hello P123 and thank you for posting a question. I am sorry to learn that you are so worried about your health. This must be difficult for you.
It seems that you have had some good advice from our other forum users. As they suggested, GP’s are still open for business and although initial consultations are usually done remotely they will see people to examine them if they think it is necessary.
As you can appreciate I cannot suggest what the cause of your symptoms might be. However, abnormal vaginal bleeding is relatively common and rarely is it related to cancer. I also don’t think that it is very likely that the bleeding and shoulder problem are related. But of course I cannot know for sure, so do contact your GP surgery and see what they have to say.
You mentioned health anxiety and I can appreciate that this can be very difficult to live with and it can have a negative impact on quality of life. So if you can, do seek some help from your GP for this. You may be able to find some self help from the NHS Moodzone pages.
