Hello
I am wondering if there is anyone in a similar situation that might be able to help me understand whats happening… have just received a call for an appointment next week at a different hospital to my previous tests and feeling quite anxious about it as receved very little info regarding the appointment
I had an initial appt with the breast clinic early July as have a hard lump on my left breast since end of feb – while there they also noticed lump on right breast too which i had recently felt but believed was down to breastfeeding – i stopped breastfeeding june and only noticed lump after that so assumed it was connected.
I was called back again for a biopsy and also had mammogram – there was a few clusters of calcification. I asked whether it seemed suspicious and doctor said it was 50/50 whether it was breastfeeding related or not.
I have been absolutley sure all along it must be breastfeeding related however I now have received a call for another appointment next week in another hospital.
They haven’t told me why I have been called back – does anyone have any similar experience?
I am now quite anxious for the first time that if it was nothing to worry about i would have been told so?
Thanks in advance for any advice or info

Hi Jewl,
I’m sorry that I cannot tell you why you’ve been called back to a different hospital, as this could be for any number of different reasons. The best thing to do would be to phone your breast care nurse and ask her why this has happened.
It could simply be that your consultant is working in that particular hospital on that day, but you are better finding out, rather than worrying about it.
I sincerely hope that your results don’t show up anything untoward in your other breast.
Please let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.
Kind regards,
Jolamine xx

Many thanks for your response Jolamine, have since found out it is standard to get biopsy results at the new hospital so hopefully nothing to worry about. Thanks for taking the time to respond.

Hi Jewl,
I’m glad to hear that it is just routine to get your biopsy results at this other hospital. Still, it would have been helpful if you were advised of this at the time, as it would have saved a lot of uneccessary worry. If you get the chance it might be worth mentioning this to your consultant when you see him. S/he possibly hasn’t thought about the implications of this from the patient’s viewpoint.
I hope that it all goes well and is, just breastfeeding related.
Kind regards,
Jolamine xx

Thanks Jolamine
It’s now been moved forward a couple of days so finding it hard not to be feeling anxious about it all weekend though trying my best not to think about it. I really wish more information was given before the appointment to prepare me either way.
I wonder has anyone had a face to face appointment with good news in covid times? I really just expected a phonecall or letter with the results.

Hi Jewl,
I was like you last week. I was due to have a telephone appointment on Tuesday 25th for results, however I got a call on the Thursday 20th asking me to go and see the consultant that afternoon. As you know your heart sinks. Anyway on my way to hospital I got a call to say appointment was cancelled and to wait for a call
Call came and they said biopsy was inconclusive. Rather than doing another biopsy they will remove it. So I am having it out next week. They do believe it is cystic and where it is will rub on my bra line and become painful.
So i wasn’t given brilliant news but it was brilliant compared to what I was expecting that day!!
Hope you get good results.
Xx

Hi Pipin
Thank you so much for taking time to reply and good luck with the removal next week. While I’m sure you would rather not have to deal with that absolutely must be a huge relief that is was not worse news. Hopefully I will have a similar result, thank you for your reassurance.
Best
Julie

Hi Jewl,
I’m glad to hear that it has now been brought forward. There have been some people who have been given good nws face-to-face during this pandemic. I sincerely hope that you are another one.
Don’t forget to let us know how you get on.
Fingers crossed for you.
Kind regards,
Jolamine xx

Hi again,
So sadly it wasn’t great news. I have breast cancer in both breasts, DCIS in one and low grade NST in the other. In the grand scheme of things it all sounds positive that its at the lower end of the scale and hopefully I will be able to treat it effectively. Awaiting some more tests and MRI before understanding treatment options. Big big shock but definitely feel like I’m in good hands.
Thanks for the support
J xx
