To make this as short as possible, 7 months ago, I woke to a painless swelling to the right side of my jaw and enlarged lymph nodes. I was put on two rounds of antibiotics for suspected tooth infection that didn’t help and was sent to hospital for persistent swelling. It was confirmed there by a few dental professionals, including a surgeon that it wasn’t dental related and had no other signs of infection so was put down for an urgent ultrasound. The ultrasound came back normal other than showing the reactive lymph nodes. I was advised to see my GP for blood test which is when the talk turned to lymphoma. Thankfully, the bloods came back normal. I was then told it is likely a virus and they’ll go down within a few weeks. I then had a review at the hospital, two months in. They were still enlarged and the doctor made an appointment for me to get a biopsy. However, when I turned up, I was told I won’t be getting it as it hasn’t been too long and told to wait a further 3 months. This was over five months ago now and they’re still enlarged. I’m 23, female. The main lymph node is on the right side of my neck and then I have a long one going alone my jawbone, one beside my right ear, another below my left ear and a couple under the chin.
Is this something to be concerned about? I don’t know whether I should bother the doctors again, especially in a time like this and my bloods and ultrasound came back normal.

Raised lymph nodes can cause a lot of anxiety and it can be worrying .
However, it ‘s very common to have them come up and some people find that they stay raised for a good while, without being a cause for concern.
It’s good that they have been checked out with an ultrasound and bloods and that a biopsy will be done in the next few months.
We can’t really add any more , as you have had and will be getting the appropriate tests.
Do get back to your GP though, if you are worried, for further advice and a chat about your concerns.
