I saw my GP today regarding a small lump I found in my breast. GP said it’s unlikely to be anything sinister but has referred me to the breast clinic for extra reassurance.
I was totally calm for most of the day however of course whilst trying to sleep I’m having a mild panic about it all now.
As I understand it I will be given an appointment in 2 weeks but I was wondering how long it takes for the appointment letter to come through just so I can plan etc.
Thanks!

Thanks for the reply! Oh goodness, 3-4 days feels like a lifetime.
Hope all goes okay with your appointment. I’m sure you just want some answers at this point!

Oh in desperate! I go through waves of convincing myself it’s nothing to feeling physically sick with worry.
Once I got my letter with a date I then started feeling better as knew nothing I could do until then so kept myself busy but as the day draws closer I’m feeling super nervous again. Hopefully you don’t need to wait too long!
My GP said the same “probably nothing to worry avout” but they found the lump so can’t be sure which sends my brain mental. What does your lump feel like if you don’t mind me asking? Mine is tiny little pea which doctor said is smooth and mobile (which is a good thing. I get so much discomfort from it, almost like muscle up from here into my shoulder. The more I prod and look for it, the more discomfort I’m in.

Hello
I’m in the same boat as you, I saw my GP Monday 25th as I’ve been getting on and off pain in right breast for a while now but becoming more frequent. Due to me googling and scaring myself, I decided to squeeze my nipple to see if nipple inverted but to my horror, clear discharge came out, which sent me hyperventilating! From the left nipple, white discharge came out! So weird, I’ve never been pregnant so it rules that out!
Anyway, the GP found a lump in my right breast so now my anxiety is through the roof. Referred me under the 2 week wait but said he isn’t too concerned. Wonder if they just have to say that to you to make the wait less excruciating? Still awaiting my appointment for the breast clinic. Started to get some pains in my right shoulder blade and right upper abdomen. Urgh.
Awful waiting isn’t it?
Xxxx

Hi,
I just wanted to add my experience here and wish you the best of luck! I found quite a large (long and thin) lump over the weekend, saw my GP on Monday morning and had the letter less than 24 hrs later! However, I won’t be seen until the 9th, so I don’t think speed of letter has much to do with speed of appointment.
I’m the same veering between periods of calm and then periods of horrific catastrophizing. I think the waiting is the worst thing. I hope you hear soon.

Hello,
I went to the GP last Monday, got my letter on the Wednesday but it didn’t have a date for an appointment, just saying to wait for a phone call. I’m going mad waiting for this appointment, my 2ww is nearly up. Everyone seems to be at least getting a date..I’m now confused. Sorry you’re all going through this. Xxx

The waiting is just awful. I’m hoping I hear something by the end of the week. I hope you get your phone call very soon.
I hope we will all be ok and sorry your all going through this.

That must be excruciating. Could you chase them? I’ve known my GP forget to pass on info before

Hi Natzztan,
Sorry I’ve been a bit slow to reply. Mine is really hard to describe, I can’t work out if it’s movable or I’m just moving the skin over it as it sort of feels like it’s attached to my chest wall (upper, inner quadrant). I have no pain with it but it feels like a pea as well except it doesn’t feel that round!
I hope all goes well tomorrow for you.

Ahhh I can imagine you are going crazy but from all of the reading ive done on the forums it looks like GP’s are being extra cautious with referrals and in 80% of cases the lumps are nothing to worry about. Hopefully that will be the case for you!!!
And to make matters worse I’m due to go on holiday and I don’t think my appointment will be before meaning I’ll have to wait until I’m back!!!

I hope you are coping okay . Such a difficult time but I know the GP has made the referral as I received a text so I guess I’ll just have to wait! But I go on holiday so now looks like it won’t be before I go which is a bit annoying as it will be playing on my mind but just have to remember the GP thought it was fine and this was for reassurance! Xx

Thankyou. I got my appointment through today for this Saturday! I’m relieved to get it through but it has heightened the anxiety again.
Oh no! I have everything crossed that your appointment will be before you go away! If not, I hope you can try and switch off on holiday and keep occupied. Easier said than done I know xxxx
