Hi, i’m just wondering if this connected ? I had my first PET scan on Thursday and since then i have had a lot of pain in 3 areas of my back. Lower right (where i imagine my kidneys are) and a couple of inches under both shoulder blades, i didn’t have these pains before and i’m just wondering if it could be connected or is it just a coincidence and my mind is playing tricks on me (which is highly likely)
The pain was quite bad, i can only describe it as being like a deep pain and i was quite sick this morning but that could have been down to the painkillers i took last night.

Hi if scanners did things to people they wouldn’t be used, hundreds of people go in them every week, think how meny complaints there would be, No something else is causing pain.

Thanks @Billygoat for grounding me, where would i be without someone else’s common sense ?
I was sitting here thinking that the radioactive glucose has “stuck” to all the bits that may be cancerous and that is why i had so much pain.
Feel free to give me slap every now and then, not literally though perhaps just a virtual slap, lol.

I haven’t come across anyone experiencing the type of pain your describe after a PET CT scan and they are usually painless, so I think the pain and the scan are most probably unconnected, but if these are new pains and are persisting, perhaps you should let your doctors know about them.
I assume you are having this scan to investigate some symptoms. A lot of people with unexplained symtpoms worry, so I think it is normal enough for your mind to have wondered. I hope you get some answers soon.

Thank you for your reply @Julia i did think it was mind playing silly beggars but needed some reassurance. I’m not sure if i’ve always had these pains and just ignored them or perhaps my senses are more heightened right now.
