Southwestern Oregon Preppers (SWOP) will be holding a meeting at 3PM on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at the Chetco Community Public Library, 405 Alder St, Brookings, OR 97415. Please note the 3PM start time.
The main topic is “WHY THE CITIZENS OF SOUTHWEST OREGON SHOULD BE PREPARED”. Brookings has seen its share of disasters during the past couple of years. Fires, floods, no electricity, road blockages/collapses, food/gas shortages, etc… The people of Brookings should realize the need to be prepared. This meeting will help you get started on preparing to survive disasters of all shapes and sizes.
SWOP meetings always start with a question and answer period before the main topic so all in attendance get a chance to participate.
This is a free public meeting to get to know fellow local preppers in southwestern Oregon counties and to exchange information and ideas. It is important for individuals to understand that they will be “on their own” in the event of a disaster and not to depend on receiving outside help. My wife and I are new to prepping, but not new to the “survivalist” lifestyle. I am searching for like minded people or groups to join or start. Generally I fall to the “lone Wolf” style of prepping, but that is out of force, not choice. We simply don’t know anyone like minded currently… Thus I am here trying to change that.
We have an established group that includes military, firefighters, communications, and medical people. We own land, have livestock and productive gardens. Everyone shoots. Hi fellow New England preppers! I have been into prepping for years now, but have recently moved to New Hampshire after 3 years in Bangkok, Thailand. Unfortunately starting over here means my family and I are not as prepped as we would like to be. Hopefully in the next few years we will build our house in Enfield, NH and really kick things into high gear. A bit about myself… I am 30 Y/O M, with a wife and young child. I am a critical care paramedic with specialty training in tactical and wilderness medicine. I also have substantial experience in disaster and emergency management. I have deployed all around the world and have practiced remote medicine in some very austere environments. I am proficient with firearms, hand-to-hand combat, sanitization, and logistics. I am also a god fearing Christian. I would love to meet other preppers in the area with similar interests and belief systems. I’d love to grow a network and exchange knowledge with fellow preppers. I believe having a strong network of fellow believers will become increasingly more important with the continuing degradation of our society and world as we know it. Hello, I am a prepper located in Victoria county in Tx and I’m intrested in joining a small group to get together with, I am still fairly new to the area and would like to meet up with like minded folks. I am a licensed EMT-B working for a private security firm doing security and Industrial EMS, in addition to my medical training I have formal firearms training, experience with hunting, fishing, farming and working with livestock. I’m not new to prepping and have my own supplies, I don’t have a bug out location as of yet.

All I am asking…
From my future partners and community is: A minimum commitment of just two items:
I actually thought that people may actually want a place to bug out or retreat to from the cities if it ever became necessary.
I am not looking for you to move on to my ranch tomorrow and make a permanent home and wait for the worst to arrive. I simply want my ranch to be your insurance policy should the worst ever come to us. I really don’t even need to see you unless it’s necessary to retreat to the ranch. No monthly meetings, no fees, no training!
My concern is: I cannot keep what I have built from those who will no doubt want to take what I’ve built without the support of a motivated team who also has some skin in the game. In my opinion, most people in the city won’t have a chance unless they have a rural, isolated place that is well stocked they can escape to and this is an expensive thing to prepare for. Yet its already built and well stocked. In my opinion there must be people that will view this plan as one where we can help each other.
I work overseas on rotation as a pilot supporting our troops. I invest in the ranch, I work on it when I’m home and I’m doing what I can to attract like-minded people.
In my opinion, the ability to feed your people is key, without food there is no need for people to defend anything, in fact without food it’s time to go looking for food. We have many luxuries here that many groups will never have, and it is a nice place.
As a member of The Ranch, you can bring your family to camp on the farm for a weekend, use our gym, our golf course, our shooting range and our wood fired pizza oven. Perhaps you may even help out on a building project, or work in our greenhouse or gardens. One of our current projects is restoring an 1865 log building. Its slotted to be our new Bourbon barn. We are also building some wood fired hot tubs. I think it’s important for your family to physically and personally see their retreat so it’s not a fearful of an unknown place should you ever need to come to The Ranch in a bad situation.
There are many things that make The Ranch and our program unique, we are one of the only groups that will be able to maintain “Air superiority” over our neck of the woods. The ability of awareness of your local and, distant surroundings is a good thing.
The Ranch manager is a former marine, if such thing exists, this young man in his late 20’s and very knowledgeable small arms instructor. When I’m working overseas as a pilot, he’s always here to answer questions, conduct a tour and discuss with you who we are. He will also assure you that we will ever ask you to invest in the ranch or give us your money!
I am trying to stress, this isn’t about money, keep your money, we are selling nothing. No spaces in a bunker here like other commercial ventures trying to make a million off peoples fears. We are looking for likeminded members with the means to make a commitment and buy their own food – PERIOD.
The Ranch is about building a team where we all are prepared collectively. We each have an effective insurance policy in place to retreat to should the worst that may happen. The Ranch is your well thought out plan to protect your family without it costing you anything really. I say without costing you anything because I don’t view you buying and storing food for your own family as me asking you for something.
I find it interesting, even those people that are open to the idea of an insurance plan to prepare for the worst will read up on it, will talk about it with their family and friends but – at the end of the day will do nothing about it. Even though the voice in their head is telling them that they should have a backup plan to bug out some where safe would be a good idea in the best interest of their family.
There are so many questions that you may want to ask yourself when the lights go out or worse is, what will I do? where will I go? Should the cities ever lose control, have you done everything in your power to assure the safety of yourself and your family? – I hope you have. I know I am trying to and, I am trying to help others too.

Experience combat medic, lot of national guard and deployment time. Good medical skills, spent most of my career in the light Infantry. Knowledgeable in prolonged field care and field hygiene concerns. Spent many a night in lean-to shelters, no stranger to the bush. Done my share of door kicker stuff.
Have a wife, she shoots too. Both healthy enough to carry our own weight and more. She’s got years of child care skills if anyone has a family in the group.
We’re armed, but fresh to prepping. I have the bug-out skills and gear but need some group guidance on home preparations, would love a friendly ear to bounce ideas off of.

I was doing prepper work with someone originally in the Titusville area of FL with a man who goes by “Bobby Smith.” When, I left to get my RV repaired, he stole about $6,000 of my belongs (food, tools, supplies) and left the area.
When I first contacted him to tell him I need to come by and pick up some of my belongs, he told me he had moved and I needed to pay him for storage for my things. I agreed. After I agreed, he said someone else who was with us took my belongings. When I asked him, if the OP had stolen why he wanted storage, he said he didn’t have room, so he threw everything out. Right!
It turns out that Bobby has a criminal record. Please be on the look out. Bobby is about 45 – 50 years old. He weighs maybe 180 – 210lbs, 5’7″ and usually has very short hair. He is a handy man of sorts and does some basic RV repair work.
I did file a police report. They have receipts. However, the investigator says they have not been able to locate him and while he is violating parole, they seem to be doing very little to pursue this. I was told it would be best if I hire a PI/Attorney as they have limited staff to follow up on this kind of matter.

I live right on the border of Mongomery and Bucks County. I am surrounded by 1.4 million people!! When things get bad people get ugly and in this case more does not mean merrier. Don’t get me wrong I like my neighbors, for instance when a blizzard knocked out the towns power for 3 days, I was explaining to my neighbor that I was concerned about my pipes freezing, he was nice enough to reply “the next time that happens you can borrow my (electric)radiator”. I just started prepping for tomorrow. I’m not sure how deep I will go with this but when something does happen I want to be able to take care of my family and not be a burden on the limited resources that will be needed to take care of someone like my neighbor.

My name is Faith, I am a 20-year-old prepper. I’ve been learning and practicing prepping since I was twelve years old. Recently I have developed a master plan for SHTF scenarios, and I’d like to create an established group of preppers, young or old, new or experienced; to help me build that community. Currently, I live in Barren County, Kentucky, however, I want the community to go beyond physical location.
I’ll attach a copy of my plan files below.
My plan for this network goes like this: This forum thread is the online base camp for us to communicate. Currently, it is just me, but those that wish to form an official network. We will swap contact information, a name you wish to be called and a general location (nothing too specific, just to get a basic idea as to where we all are.)
From there we’d discuss our knowledge of prepping and any other questions, then when enough people are a part of this network, choose a place for a meet up to get to know each other and establish not only a network but also a friendship, with a common goal of preparedness and survival.
Just as a precaution I’ll make something clear up front: I am a tolerant, open minded person. I respect all ways of life and those who wish to join will not be discriminated on for any reason, you will be judged by your words and actions alone. I will not accept bigoted, racist, sexist, or any form of prejudice. All opinions and expressions are welcomed to be voiced but please do so in a respectable manner. It is encouraged to site and support all statements for show education on the topic of discussion. Hi All, my name is Riccardo and I am an italian guy permanently relocating to NH next March for work ( will rent a home in Salem NH the first year while searching a suitable property to build a home somewhere in southern NH in 2020).
I am 42yo from Rome where I started prepping 2 years ago. Due to the mediterranean climate of Rome I learned a lot about growing vegetables and fruit and canning them to preserve the products , I work in a renewable energies company so I know a thing or two about them and I have been volunteer in Italian Red Cross for several years so I am quite skilled in first aid. Guns enthusiast , I try to train with them as much as possible (once a week more or less) both with handguns, Ar15 and long range shooting with my M1a up to 500m. For the rest I consider myself a handyman , that can do a lot of things (actually I did most of the works of plumbing , electricity and so on in the house I live now in Italy).
So now I have to leave everything behind and start a brand new life in USA, but I want to resume as soon as possible my preparedeness and I would like to start to connect with like-minded people in the surroundings. If anyone is interested my mail is : [email protected]

I see a lot of people doing the right thing, prepping smartly and carefully.
What i don’t see is people joining forces. I see different strengths in different cities, one person has army training, another has water source, Another has unlimited food resources etc….Combining brain cells and resources would mean you/we would have an abundance of ALL resources and a 24/7 support group in a helpful giving community which all give you peace of mind. If anyone is looking for the same, write me a PM.

My name is Kurt and I’m a Master Electrician with a small Electrical Contracting company in SW Michigan. I’m interested in finding, and joining, a prepper/homesteading community. I currently live in a somewhat large city (Kalamazoo, MI) and I’m not in the “good part” of the city. So when I hear advice like “come out of her my people” it really hits home.
As I mentioned, I’ve been prepping food for a while now (going on two years). However, I also have LOTS of tools and equipment from all my years in the construction business. I have several cordless drill/drivers, impact drivers, hammer drills, sawzalls, circular saws, and flashlights. In corded tools I have all of those mentioned in the cordless style (except flashlights) plus a couple of grinders, an oscillating tool, saw/sander, a belt sander, two palm sanders, two shop vacs, a router, several heat guns, and several other things as I’m sure I’m forgetting some tools. I also have all kinds of hand tools, socket sets, pipe wrenches, hammers, sledge hammers, axess, an electric chainsaw and a gas powered one, two kerosene heaters, a propane “bullet” heater, fish tapes, fish chains, fish sticks, and fishing poles (tackle too). You get the point…I have just about everything I could possibly need in the way of tools. That includes several ladders of all types and sizes, and everything you can think of in terms of gardening/lawn working tools; shovels, rakes, hoes, etc. Also hoses, sprinklers, fertilizers, clamps, connectors, adapters, valves, etc, etc. I have a plethora of tools and equipment, and I would be bringing it all…eventually. I’m sure it will take several trips over some time to complete this relocation.
My current target location is SW Arkansas in the Arkansas Ozarks. It’s in a geologically stable region of the United States. It’s in the Ozark Mountains, so it has the necessary elevation I was looking for in terms of flooding and defensive positions. There’s a very abundant supply of clean drinking water in the form of springs, rivers, and lakes. And the forested areas have plenty of wildlife, so fish and game are available. And there are not any big cities anywhere close to the area I was considering, so less chance of the desperate, lawless, hungry hoards showing up at your door. The winters are mild, especially compared to my home in Michigan, and that was definitely a consideration when I was figuring out “bug out locations” to move to.
With all that said, I’m still very open to suggestions, and by no means have I made up my mind that the Ozarks are the only place to consider relocating to. However, wherever else I consider moving to will have to meet most, if not all, of the above considerations to qualify as a place I would be interested in landing.
So do you have suggestions? Do you have a place that’s looking for top-notch potential members with a lot to offer the community? I would love to set up a time to come for a visit to look at potential communities, and to have you check me out as well.
