One of the big questions left to answer is how will we make a living in a world where more of our work is left to automated machinery? The robots aren’t exactly poised to displace everyone tomorrow but that day is coming. So what then? How do we make ends meet? How do we buy the things we want or have the experiences we dream about?
All good things must come to an end. The podcast crew bids you farewell in this final episode. Peek behind the scenes at the Fw:Thinking podcast.
Joe and Lauren share their favorite predictions about the future while Jonathan makes lots of jokes. What predictions rank among the team’s favorites?
The podcast crew talks about some of their favorite predictions about the future, from evolving language to 20th century French postcards.
Will we ever find a cure for diabetes? Are there technologies that will help people manage diabetes more easily?

What will it be like to be human one hundred years from now? It’s a hard question. Some fields of science progress at breakneck speed while others languish behind for what feels like an eternity (I’m looking at you battery technology).
Has the 3D printer craze fizzled out? What are the trends in consumer 3D printers? Is this technology doomed to obscolescence?
Toyota has created a cutting edge simulator designed to help racing teams become familiar with every track in all sorts of conditions. It’s an incredible machine. And simulations are playing an important role in our journey into the future.
How did Stanford teach monkeys to transcribe Hamlet using only their monkey brains? And how could this technology benefit us in the future? We revisit computer-brain interfaces.
What is artificial intelligence? What’s the difference between weak, strong, narrow and general AI? And what’s state of the art today?
Are we destined for an AI arms race? Why would nations race to develop AI? And will we ever create superintelligent AI?
Stars are insanely far away. Science fiction writers have solved the problem with the “warp drive,” which allows future humans to travel faster than light, crossing the vast emptiness of space.
With every passing year robots and artificial intelligence become more life-like and sophisticated. But how does that affect romance? Experts are predicting that within the next 20-40 years we’ll see the first relationship bots hit store shelves, and that got us wondering, at what point will a relationship with a robot be the considered cheating?
Carbon capture sequestration is all about removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. Can we convert the greenhouse gas into solid rock?
In August 2016 astronomers made a huge announcement: they had discovered a potentially habitable exoplanet right in our cosmic backyard. The world is called Proxima B, and it’s located within Alpha Centauri, the closest star system to Earth.
If you could make the world a better place by removing the ability for people to make selfish choices, would you do it? We continue the conversation.

Although biomimicking robots may be the wave of the future, our technology isn’t quite there yet. Until we make a few major breakthroughs in shrinking and powering portable mechanical parts, there’s just no way that our robots can compete with the movement we see in swimming bacteria or rippling muscles.
In the future a wave of biologic super-enhancements will make you and me faster, smarter, stronger and healthier… but what about BETTER?
