Nice video!
In Denmark Facebook has become a widely used mainstreem media during the last 6 month. I have newer seen a new platform spread so fast.
We are now looking forward to the Twitter fever ….but Twitter is not as mainstream i think.
This is indeed a fascinating evolution to watch and be a part of.
I have a weird feeling that Twitter has the potential of becoming THE mainstream social media outlet. This is from a guy who thought Twitter would never have a place in his life.
The search feature of Twitter… accompanied with precise, concise publications make it really powerful. The next time you go to a new restaurant do a search for it first at search.twitter.com. It’s a pretty amazing experience.
Citizen journalism truly could give all the best news sources a serious run for their money. As an example, I watched a video of Chuck Todd, from NBC, talking about their specialists. I guess they have a couple specialists on staff… a health person and maybe one other person.
But on the net, you have access to the most renowned experts in every field. As an example I have a bookmark category for major economist blogs here:
http://delicious.com/sagerock/economics
By creating that bookmark category I have, in effect, create a publication featuring all the best economist minds from all different points of view. The New York Times will never have that because in order for them to promote an expert he has to be on the company payroll. So, they can only give me Paul Krugman.
In my publication I have:
Roubini
Becker
Posner
Tyler Cowen
Calculate Risk
and, of course, Krugman
In effect, I’m making my own newspaper… and that’s just on economics. I can put together all the experts in any field I want. These people publish their blogs because they make money in a variety of ways… advertisement, speaking, books and articles.
I completely agree Lewis. As a matter of fact, social media is really helping to get more business if we target it properly. All it needs proper guidance.
Thanks for the stats
