The number of dangers we could face in a post-disaster world is innumerable. Part of the problem is that we don’t really know what that world will look like. While there are certain things we can surmise, based upon past disasters, we may very well be wrong. Did anyone actually foresee a global pandemic play out the way that COVID-19 has?
While the disaster itself will obviously be dangerous, perhaps the biggest dangers any of us face aren’t from nature or whatever force might create the disaster, but from other people. Specifically, the most dangerous groups will be those who gather together in gangs in order to seek out supplies, even if they have to steal them and the government. While the government may not take care of us, they will always take care of themselves.
Considering the direction our nation has been going, a nationwide disaster could be just the situation some politicians and bureaucrats have been waiting for, so that they could increase the power of the police state over our lives. The first step in that process is knowing everything there is to know about everyone, keeping track of where they are and what they’re doing.
As we heard from Edward Snowden, the government, specifically the NSA, is already working hard to track down every bit of electronic data about all of us, creating dossiers that might be used in any future investigation. While there are those who say “if you’re not doing anything wrong, there’s nothing to worry about,” the government’s definition of “wrong” is subject to change.
Today there are those who are calling expressing a conservative viewpoint a “hate crime” and trying to prosecute those who dare to publicly express those opinions.
Our only safety is to do the best we can to ensure that the government can’t track us. That may actually be impossible, but even so, there’s no reason to give them information about us on a silver platter. The less we let them have, the less they can use against us.
Here are a few key ways that we are being tracked today and what we can do about it.
If someone in the government wanted to come up with a way to get all of us to give them all our personal information, all they would have had to do is create social media.
When you sign up for any social media platform, the first thing they do is have you create a profile. With many people, you can learn just about anything you want to about them, just from reading what they’ve posted there.
If that wasn’t bad enough, social media is all about letting others know what’s going on in your life. People post everything from family photos to vacation plans.
They openly let others know what’s going on in their lives, forgetting that there are many more eyes seeing that, than they expect.
It’s safe to say that the government has agreements with all the social media platforms, allowing them to tap in and learn anything they can. That’s not too surprising, considering employers can do that as part of the hiring process.
The best way to prevent the government from learning about you on social media is to not use it at all. They can even glean information about you from the things you follow and read. That’s not all that hard, as Facebook regularly data mines for that kind of information, so that they can use it for selling advertising space on their platform.

As I already mentioned, the NSA is recording every bit of electronic communications, of every type, in the world.
While they may not have any interest in you today, that could change at any time. All it would take is for someone in DHS to decide that preppers were dangerous and had to be controlled, and every record of your communications would be examined by some nameless bureaucrat, looking to find something you’ve done wrong.
We can’t do anything about the information which has already been gathered about us, but we can do something about what we do in the future. Basically, all we have to do is stop using electronic communications to keep in touch with others. Instead of using text messages, e-mail and phones, we could actually talk to others face to face and send snail mail.
Our smartphones are smarter than we are, especially when it comes to tracking us.
Having a built-in GPS is handy; especially when you’re trying to find that restaurant you want to go to. But in order to give us that capability, the phone is constantly tracking our comings and goings. If you don’t believe me, just check your timeline on Google Maps or the Apple equivalent for an iPhone.
Supposedly we can turn off that feature, but I wonder how true that is. Perhaps we can turn off our ability to see where we’ve been, but that doesn’t mean that the phone isn’t still tracking us and reporting that information to Google or whoever else might have an interest. The only way we can be sure that our phone isn’t tracking us is to take out the battery (not possible with most modern phones) or buy one that doesn’t have GPS.
Another source of information that’s being used to track us is our shopping.
Have you ever searched for something online, then a few minutes later seen an ad for that very thing show up in your Facebook feed or in an online article you’re reading? That’s not by accident.
It’s a given that Facebook and Google are tracking our every keystroke, hoping to capitalize on those advertising dollars. But the question is; who else is doing the same? That’s something that we just don’t know, as nobody is being forthright and transparent about such things. All we know for sure is that it’s happening.
Then there are our purchases. Have you noticed how society is moving away from cash and more into using credit and debit cards? COVID-19 has really pushed that; especially with the supposed coin shortage.
That could all be a sham, as they can’t track our cash purchases, but they can track any purchase made with a credit or debit card.
The fact that the law-enforcement officers use this information in criminal investigations is such common knowledge that it’s been featured in many cop shows. You don’t think the writers just came up with that, do you?
Surveillance cameras are both becoming more commonplace and more sophisticated as time goes on.
A decade or so ago, the images were tiny and unclear. Now they’re as good as watching a movie, in color and with the ability to identify people over a block away.
Between security cameras and traffic cameras there are few places you can go in the city, where they can’t see you.
Again, this is one of those cases, like the NSA reading your communications, where people say “if you’re not doing anything wrong, it’s not a problem.” But none of us know who is using that information and how they are using it. Could there be some shadowy government agency, like the NSA, which is gathering information about us, to use in the event they decide we are dangerous? We just don’t know.
Fortunately, there are ways to beat surveillance cameras, either through the use of disguises or by blinding the camera. Modifying a hat, so that there are infrared LEDs around the brim, can keep those cameras from seeing your face. This doesn’t mean they can’t identify you at all; but it makes the job a whole lot harder.
There are also websites where people post the positions of security cameras and traffic cameras, giving us all the ability to know where they are and allowing us to plan routes which avoid that surveillance. If criminals do that, there’s no reason we can’t too.
One of the best things we can do, besides protecting our online identity and information, is to make ourselves so unremarkable that nobody notices. There are people in this world, that you just don’t notice. We all do it. They are just so unremarkable that it’s like we don’t even see them.
One big category of people like this are people in uniform, regardless of what sort of uniform it is. We see the uniform, but not the person inside. People have literally hidden themselves from others that they know, by nothing more than wearing a uniform. Others, like the homeless, are people that we just turn away from, as if we don’t see them.

Even without going to the point of a disguise, such as a uniform or looking like you’re homeless, there are things we can all do, which make us blend into the woodwork. Wearing dull clothing, moving with the crowd and making ourselves look unattractive are all things that will help keep people from noticing us.
Finally, we could just drop out of society. Every once in a while you see a story about someone who has done that. They’ve totally dropped off the grid and are camping out somewhere in the wilderness. If you want to find them you’ve got to do a lot of looking and if you want to talk to them, you’ve got to go where they are.
Granted, this is a rather extreme solution to the problem and one that’s hard to do; but some people do it anyway. Alaska is a favorite destination for those that do. Their lives are different than our own, but at least their biggest threats come from nature and not from any two-legged predators, whether in government service or not.

Rachelle, the sniveling little cowards who comprise about 51% of our citizenry and are afraid to step outside for fear of getting Covid are never going to demand anything from the government except more free stuff. They choose free things over freedom. The only right they will fight fir is the right to take what others earn for their own use. Covid is a total nothingburger and less you are predisposed genetically or are in a weakened state due to disease and poor lifestyle. Healthy people who have a certain chromosome cannot fight Covid and it kills them.
I’m 65. I was exposed to Covid in late June. I had a sore throat and was uncomfortable for 3 days. I’ve had flu symptoms in the past that make Covid look like a cold. I have no lingering affects. I know several people who had a similar experience. I know no person who died but I know some who have lingering symptoms. I know infants and children who were exposed but had no symptoms.
My point is this thing is just part of life. Some of us will adapt and continue a normal life, some will die and many will cower in fear and surrender their rights to control freaks who desire to rule instead of govern.
I was sick for less than 48 hrs. Took responsibility for myself, and pounded the immune boosters. Wish I’d gotten it sooner!
I’m about to turn 74. Had covid. Was miserable for weeks. Between while sick and unable to eat much and for after a while after, I lost most of 50 lb. But I did survive… felt like i was near death at one point. I won’t laugh at it. I’ve lost two younger friends to covid. Until it gets you, you dont know how it will effect you
so sorry ClergyLady! Sounds awful. I’m for sure not laughing at those who get really ill or worse. I stated I wish I’d gotten it sooner bc it is just so freeing once you don’t need to worry about it anymore. I really really highly recommend researching immune boosters and keeping them on hand bc there’s always going to be some illness floating around. And I strongly feel that the immune boosters are what made the covid so short and less severe for me, though it was still the worst I’ve felt in a long time. We took zinc, vit D3, vit C, multivits, SuperLysine, oregano oil, coconut oil, firecider (we went through a half gallon, half an ounce at a time!), water, sleep/naps, typical cooking herbs which all have health benefits and some specific to individual symptoms, all as if it was a fulltime job.
I understand. And I regularly take C, D3, Zink, And Multi. Do most of your list. Seldom get sick. Colds if they start get as far as sniffles and tickly throat then its gone. I really struggled getting over Covid then a med reaction in the middle of it.
The Drs are saying immunity starts to wear off in 2-6 months for most folks. It isn’t a one time thing for everyone. Hopefully most never get it a second time. The vaccinations aren’t claiming to be a permanent solution either. Not like Smallpox or polio. They were designed to be permenant solutions. Covid vaccine will need repeating but how often?
I eat well, work hard, and take my vitamins. Now I’m working hard to regain strength and stamina a little at a time. There was no garden this year. I’d started my plants to set out as soon as the weather warmed up. Instead they all died along with all my houseplants from lack of care. My neighbor took over the care of my critters while I couldn’t do it. I’ll sure miss him. He also was always working on my vehicles worked on the well or whatever was needed. He died of Covid in October. Never sick but by the 3rd day of symptoms he was flown to the city for care. Gone in under 3 weeks. Left a wife and 3 little grandchildren they had custody of.

there is a huge difference between parents teaching their children, and government trying to force people to do something that it has no authority to do over something that has been 95% fearmonger propaganda. I understand that some people will get it much more severely than I did, and that is a sad thing. But historically, people have far more to fear from their own govt than anything else, from tyranny and ‘collateral damage’. Far more people are expected to starve to death from lost food production in the coming year than C19, not to mention the misery that will be caused by progressive tyranny. I was trying to encourage people to look into immune boosters and taking responsibility for their own health to lessen the effects.

Didn’t foresee what a pandemic would do? Stephen Konkoly did in his book “The Jakarta Pandemic.” While the hero is over the top prepared and seems to have an endless supply of cash — a problem I would certainly like to have to address — I think Konkoly did an excellent job of writing, a, a preppier instruction manual and, b, laying out just what would happen with a world wide pandemic. Read it. It certainly is worth whatever it is going for. You can get it on Kindle as well as hard copy and it may even be on audio books.
Secondly, depending upon what constitutes the End of The World Scenario, an HAEMP or an X-category CME, would destroy most computer electronics. First world governments today depend totally on computers to operate. All those computers draw so much juice they are hardwired into the electric grid. After either of the aforementioned electrical events, the huge NSA center in Utah would be a giant, silent cyclone-fenced pile of junk. The only thing of value would be the snacks in the lunch rooms and the bottled water in the vending machines. Inside would be an ice box in the winter and a blast furnace in the summer. So much for the government using its records to track citizens after the EOTW.
If you really want to drop out, you have to figure out some way to delete the memory banks of all the social networking sites you have visited including this one. Good luck. The best you can do is go dark and stop posting everywhere. Stop even visiting any sites. Just take your computer hard drive out and smash it and the rest of the machine. Do the same with your phone. Then send them to the landfill. Stop using electronics to communicate. Go back to snail mail. Use a private postal box service.

If your hair is purple when few others are so adorned, guess what? You stand out. It’s hard to be “the gray man” when you have tats on your face and hands and are wearing a hairstyle designed to make you stand out. Lose the nose ring and the pvc tubes in your ear lobes. See if a doc can stitch them back so the holes aren’t so obvious.
I think if there is a serious breakdown of society we won’t have to worry about organized government, we will have to worry more about the nuts on our block or four blocks over.
William S. Lind in his series of books and columns on Fourth Generation Warfare opines that statist government that has existed since the Treaty of Westphalia, is in an extreme state and is collapsing all over the world. His posit is that government’s primary purpose for existence is safety of its members and that government as it exists today is failing in that endeavor. He predicts, based on that failure, that statist governments, federal, state and to a lesser degree, local governments will lose all effectiveness and society will devolve into what we had in the Middle Ages before the Treaty of Westphalia, small local strongholds and strong local leaders who provide safety from outside intruders.
A grim forecast indeed, but with the new administration seemingly set to take control in Washington and with their continued emphasis on open borders, we will cease to exist as a nation. No nation can persist if it does not control its borders and who it allows in.
If you haven’t read any of Lind’s works, or Konkoly, I enthusiastically recommend both authors.
End Times Alaska by Craig Martelle is like a primer for how to survive any end times scenario. He is a former career Marine turned writer. Excellent book and even though it’s fiction, I learned a lot from the book. He also wrote a book called World’s Worst Day Ever, one that reads like today. It’s part of a larger series, but I think the relevance to the current international situation is spot on. It’s taken from a brief by a retired CIA operative.
Both are available in the kindle unlimited store or are really cheap to buy.

LCC, I read the Jakarta Pandemic back in 2010, looking back now, it was prophetic. This good article here is titled “How To Become Untraceable When SHTF”. Well, to be honest with the election stolen for Biden, the S has already HTF. I began easing out of the public eye in 1996 when I sold my properties, paid off loans, and cut up all credit/charge cards. I have not made a loan or used a credit card, and have paid cash for everything since then. I owe no one. My house and land are paid for and I have 10 years of property tax funds stashed away. I sleep well at night due to that. l Iived in Mexico full time for 14 years, moved back here stateside to Missouri 3 years ago. My time in Mexico was helpful in removing me from public records here. Oh, and I don’t own a registered/contracted cell phone. I use burner phones and toss them. I have a bank account dated back 44 years ago, the original company has changed hands 3 times and their normal account numbers are now 19 numbers long, mine are still 5 numbers total. I use a debit card from that account for online purchases and I only deposit cash into it as needed. My address on file with that bank, and other companies, is a drop box that forwards my mail to me, but I handle everything banking wise online and receive notices by email. Some how my drivers license ended up with no social security number attached to it when the friendly DOT girl added all zeros where the SS number should have gone 30 years ago, I renewed the license here in Missouri with no problems. Still no social security attached to it. If things get sticky, I use my international passport out of Mexico and I also hold dual citizenship, US and Mx. I have a few other special tricks that I won’t go into online here, but I will say, the ATF has zero record of me. And I know I’m veiled because I don’t get any offers for credit cards or loans by postal mail, while my family gets dozens of offers in the postal mail box daily. I receive nothing beyond business I’ve established in my postal mail drop box. BTW, Oracle is not my name.

One of the “tricks” I mentioned that I won’t disclose has to do with one errant numeral in a very important source of ID that I was given 55 years ago. Titles are locked, even so, county records are useless to track the owner of my properties as they end up in offshore accounts. Rochelle: I think if statist governments orchestrate the breakdown of society, it will actually hasten their demise. Their only hope for continuation is a calm state with property rights and individual safety for all. Without that there is no need for government. It looks as if the city of Portland is going to be the first to fail on a local level. Portland city government now is considering personal deprivation as a defense for property crimes of all descriptions. It has already had the beginnings of anarchy within its borders. If anyone can steal anything and claim that they are deprived and that is justification for stealing it, property of all kinds is going to be subject to theft. No home will be safe. What need is there for government if any group of thugs can break into your home and there is no legal recourse? The only recourse will be vigilantism and that will mean the strongest, best armed, most willing to use lethal force will prevail. I would say that’s a Mad Max world but I didn’t see the movie, so I don’t know if that is an appropriate simile.
William Lind states in his writings that the anarchists do not want to actually rule. They think they prefer a state of disorder where mob rule is the order of the day with no one in charge.
My personal opinion is that is totally unworkable. What will happen is that some strongman or woman will organize a group and seize control of the situation. It has been thus since the first group of humanoids gathered together in a troop with the alpha male ruling by rule of might. In some groups the alpha female is the leader. If it weren’t so disrupting to what we have striven to maintain for 200+ years it would be interesting to watch from the sidelines to see how it devolves. I think there is a very large number of people who see government breaking apart. Have you tried buying ammunition? Have you seen gun sales still breaking all time records? If you don’t have a personal defense weapon, I am not talking about a three-shot 6 mm Remintgon, but a firearm that takes multiple round magazines, you are now significantly behind the curve. I would be purchasing machetes and spears if I didn’t have firearms.

HOWEVER, if you put your phone inside a Faraday cage it cannot transmit. Therefore, it cannot track you.
I know it seems as if I am beating the drum for Art Bradley, but he sells a light weight bag that he says will protect your phone from intercept no matter what generation. It is a lot more convenient than the four layers of aluminum wrap that I suggested but more expensive. Sorry, I don’t have an url for his products. A lot of these kinds of survival articles are written by healthy men. I am elderly and not able to carve out a wilderness hideout. I plan to shelter in place. My home is stocked and I have guns. If thieves take my supplies, let them think they cleaned me out. I have resources hidden. Well hidden. I have to rely on wits and not muscle. I also have land if I need to leave. The government is going to be busy tracking all those young men. They will not be interested in one old woman. The thieves will eventually be killed off by someone. I agree with what you say; you sound well-prepared with a reasonable plan. Still, I have a niggling thought that you and I are low-hanging fruit. I worked in government and numbers were important so for a good report you always processed the easy stuff first to get those numbers up. Taking guns, commandeering supplies or rounding people up, they’ll go for quantity first.
I have never worked for the government, but I have worked alongside government programs. They are not necessarily bright. I do think time will tell what we should do. I think the federal government will descend into anarchy. The law and order will depend upon local law enforcement and citizens. I have been told stories by my relatives about the civil war. The county I live in is the same that my ancestors lived in.. The law was enforced by the local lawmen and deputized men when needed. Also there was an escape route for those who needed it. I inherited land from my kinfolk. Its in the backwoods lying between two tiny towns. I have thought about offering a place to go to people in exchange for some protection. It has plenty of water and a mild climate. Of course, that means rules must be laid down. No useless people who would attract attention and cause trouble. People would have to accept that things have changed and they need to adapt to it. These are just thoughts that may never come about. At least we should all be thinking about what to do. I think survival “pods” will spring up more than they are now. Scripture says that even after the Great Tribulation there will be survivors after those days.
I think it would be useful to try to visit or read about some of these communal survival groups to learn from their experiences, and mistakes. You might do a computer search for any information online and perhaps our fellow Preppers could offer up where to learn more. Most of the advice I’ve seen here is to go slowly and to carefully draw people out without tipping your hand.

I appreciate this article because with the rise in technology especially electric cars and the percentage of financial transactions, it’s hard not to feel the government is or could very easily keep tabs on you.
I want to raise the issue that snail mail may not be as incognito as we would like as well. You know those letter sorting machines the post office uses? It scans the outside of every envelope. I found this out when my sister in GA had POA on my mom in Florida and arranged with the post office to get emails scans of the enveloped mom got in case something important happened that she had to handle.
I was appalled at this expanded use of the letter sorting scans because of the potential for government abuse and because the service is free.
Anyone can arrange to receive emailed scans of the front of envelopes sent to them supposedly to help keep track of important incoming correspondence. The program is called Informed Delivery. The USPS website says the info is kept for only “a week to thirty days.” I am not sure I believe this anymore than I believe the government doesn’t hang onto the gun purchase info collected when they do a background check. So, in the event the government decides that monitoring the whereabouts of its people is a good thing, the mail service is already set up to track delivery of a piece of mail. The sender can protect himself by not putting a return address on the envelope, but the recipient’s address will be scanned into the LSM.
Tried to check scanning of envelopes at UPS. They scan in all packages, but what I read wasn’t clear about letters. Did not check FedEx.
Saw there was an article on ham radios. Maybe I’ll read that next to see if it is an option.
Law enforcement can request a mail hold on anyone’s mail with no warrant or any other official sanction. The P.O. would hold the mail for a limited number of days and a leo could come in and scan the addresses and make note of from whom the mail came plus your literature and periodicals. You never knew it was taking place. You mail just seemed a couple of days slow. That has been going on for decades if not centuries.
I opined some time last year that with modern scanning techniques the cop didn’t even have to go to the p.o. to check the mail and no delays were involved, that it was p.o. computer to cop computer and a lot less paper work involved in tracking. Let the computer do the analyzing, collating and sorting. I’m not surprised that the p.o. is set up to do the same electronically.

The answer to your question is very obvious. The latter out weighs the former a million times. How many businesses have been shut down because of terrorism? How many people have lost their homes and jobs because of terrorism? How many people have died because governors moved corona patients into nursing homes because of terrorism? I keep thinking about this. Obviously we need to think about protecting our own butts and making plans for the future bc that is our responsibility. On the other hand, if we go gray too early we are abdicating our responsibility to stand up and fight tyranny and thus are part of the problem. If you are barely able to cover basic expenses each month, then you may not be able to afford to move, but if you have any extra at all or any savings, you can.
Moving doesn’t have to be expensive. If you know where you want to go, (which may be cheaper than where you are now), it may be affordable.
I did a lot of research when we moved from Oregon to WA. We moved with pods. They delivered them and we filled them up. A whole hh of goods including a month or so in storage was $1200.00. U-Haul has a similar setup. U-Haul also has a list of people you can hire to load and unload if you don’t have friends who can help with the lifting. It can be done even cheaper if you rent a U-Haul truck, fill it and drive yourself. If you are just moving a state or two over and can drive it back to where you rented it from, it gets really cheap and you are just renting the truck for 2-3 days and paying mileage. It costs more to leave it at a different location. And, yes, I realize there are start up expenses at the new place like utility deposits, etc. I know what a huge undertaking it is, but depending on a person’s situation, it may be affordable.
Govtgirl, agreed, moving is as cheap or as expensive as one wants to make it. A do-it-yourself move renting a U-Haul truck is as cheap as you can go. I looked it up, as an example a person could rent and drive a 20′ U-Haul truck from NYC to Springfield Missouri (1200 miles) for $2000 plus fuel. The 20′ truck is said to handle the contents of a 2-bedroom home.That $2000 would absolutely change a person’s life for the better. Most people could make $2000 on a garage sale if they set their mind to getting rid of the non-essentials that clutter their home. To anyone considering making a move to safety, th best time to go is now, not when the roads are full of hysterical “golden hoards” fleeing the cities.
Share a rental while selling things and saving. Put what you really want in a storage unit and you finish up selling. Hopefully you have a relative of a friend who will let you crash there for a while. I’ve even purchase a truck for less than a rental. At the other end of the move I had the choice to keep or sell the truck. For the last move we had a pickup heavy enough to pull a trailer. Even cheaper to rent than a truck rental. I traded things for help. I bought a 6×16 flat bed trailer for $1000 for the last move. Rural living with a pick up and trailer has made good sense. Years ago we moved a family with 3 boys on a 8×20 trailer.
A friend was serious enough about moving, to move everything worth keeping into a storage unit, moved out of a rental, slept in a car and kept moving around while saving up moving money. Social security was direct deposited. A rural rental was a lot cheaper. She visited a church before moving and asked if she could get help once she moved. It worked and she’s stuck with that church. Her son drove the truck.
It just depends on how serious you are and how inventive you are.

Your posting is very helpful. Our car and 26 yo shortbed were not heavy enough to qualify to rent the towed trailers even tho both have hitches. So, I just abandoned that whole line of thinking. Never occurred to me to buy something. Will remember to think outside box for next move. Thanks.
Lol several years later I have a 2003 super duty, crew cab 4×4. Now with a blown head gasket. My car is a 2003 Ford with who know how many miles on it.. it was a cab and is painted the typical yellow. Actually I bought 2 of them. I’d saved up a little to get a used car. I looked and looked, a lot i couldn’t afford to repair for the money I had. I saw the cab fleet was being sold. Well maintained and many with high miles had newer motors and new front seats. I mads a deal on two of them for less than I’d planned to spend on one. I gave the second one to my neighbor. It isnt pretty…. i hate yellow cars! But it would fly if it had wings. Police interceptor. The truck is worth the repair but I don’t have the money. I have a 2005 Prius that has a newly rebuilt battery bank. And is road ready. I drove it home, and I’ve driven it once as a test drive. My trading skills maybe worth getting the truck headgasket repair and a rear bumper for a 1999 Ford Ranger. I used to do a lot of the work myself. No longer.
The Ranger would be an ok thing to run to town in. A couple of repairs before I decide. Body is rough. Driver door only opens from inside. Slider in back window is missing. Rear window on camper shell is missing. The slider and rear bumper will decide it. Ill open up the door and look at that problem. It feels disconnected. If its too much ill look for a door at you pull it. Hopefully the rear bumper won’t be hard to find. It was a stolen vehicle. The owner didn’t want it in the shape it was in when returned. It runs great. I care more about that than looks. Kind of like my crew cab 4×4. It does me no good just sitting. The Ranger wouldn’t be safe pulling the trailers i have for the big truck. They do need to match up.
ClergyLady: I had 2 Rangers in my life. Same problem with both, body gets eaten up. Same thing with the Tracker and any vehicle but the Chevy. I want to get this paid off, and go to PA next fall and hunt for a newer truck, one with 4-wheel drive. Tires, too, for that matter. I paid $55.00 each for good truck tires there, but here, that much for cheap ones. Strange thing is, Mexico recaps but PA demands no recaps can be sold there. Peasants must bow to the ill of the princes in a socialist state. At least till we get caught 🙂

Well, this Ranger was beat up by thieves. But it made the truck cheap for me.
Sure wish I could get the Ford Super Duty crew cab 4×4 back on the road.
Have run with a couple of recaps but no more. A recap sure made the side of the good truck a mess when it peeled. Had one peel on a car, no damage. On the truck it tore off a fender support, mashed the tip of the exhaust pipe shut, tore up the side panel infront of the tire and behind it. Had to pull part if it out so we could change the tire and drive it home.
ClergyLady: With caps, best thing is to replace them after so many miles, when half the tread is gone. When they used to recap in the US, the tires were good. Since they moved south of the border, the companies stopped caring. niio
That cap that tore up the side of the truck hadn’t been on long. I believe it was a quality problem.
Yeah, when working at a truckstop, I saw a lot of brand new tires come in ripped. Not as bad as a cap, but bad. the shock on the people was interesting, “But, it’s a Firestone!” or some other brand. Darn shame we can’t get tubes anymore. With all the thorns around, tubes filled with green slime would be great. niio
Lol I could definitely use this thing on butchering day so long as no one stands near and I don’t drop it on toes. It sure could either cause or cure a headache. Or amputate a few toes.
I’d have loved to see that claw and rock.
That Grove in the stone is as smooth as glass. Stone lookes more like a lt gray granite. Smooth like a river stone.
Tubes with freen slim would be useful.

This past summer Daniel and I found tubes for tractor tires at Tractor Supply. No idea for car or pick up tires.
I tried there. Nothing for cars or trucks. The garage is looking for me. niio
