The typeface Adelle is a newer font created in 2009, posted on their foundry “TypeTogether” by the designers Jose Scaglione and Veronika Burian.
Jose is an Argentinan multimedia graphic designer and Veronika, a Prague native is an industrial designer with a background in graphic & product design.
TypeTogether is an indie foundry created in 2006 specializing in creating unique and personable typefaces for mainly editorial purposes.

Adelle Users:
Adelle is quite versatile and displays well in newspapers, magazines, blogs and menus.
Now the fun begins, my next process was to create a design inception to explain the direction with my project.
This typeface offers versatility with personality and creates an instant candid feeling while viewing, so the WHY I came up with is…
COLOUR: Bold colours, warm sunset hues and rich tones.
When I chose these colours,
I wanted a strong feel.
The red, orange and green are inviting, safe and bright enough without looking too vibrant.
The neutrals, cream and dark grey are softer than using black/white.

First Stage (Sketches):
Did a 180 change on my design… I had to focus on why I am trying to sell this font and to who.
Went back to my mood board and used California coast as my inspiration.
Second Stage (Layout):
Now I had to figure out how to break down the folds with a theme based on headlines, illustrations, content and CTA.
Third Stage (Digital):
The struggle to add colours and textures without looking like I had too many colours.
Had to go back and forth with hues and combinations to get the right type of vibe.
Forth Stage (Revised):
The stage where I threw every idea I could think of on the page to later realize it was way too busy. During my evaluation,
I was told that I needed to scale down my text size as I was unaware of how large my dimensions were.
. . . and VOILA!
As my first project in UI, I am happy with the results. With limited photoshop skills I was able to apply class learnings of layout, colour and font pairings. With that being said I definitely had some struggles in trying to make my landing page look cohesive with my mood board explaining my “why.”
After presenting and watching my other classmates perform, I learned to adopt the “fake it until you make it” mentality.
To be confident to sell every element of your design and be able to support the reasoning behind every design decision.
