Cyber Monday Online Shopping Guide 2018 – Best Websites & Deals
Black Friday is traditionally the best day of the holiday shopping season to find great in-store deals on the year’s hottest consumer products. Retailers and customers have celebrated Black Friday for decades, and the rise of the Internet has brought much Black Friday shopping online.
Cyber Monday (which falls on the Monday after Black Friday) like Small Business Saturday is a newer tradition. It’s exclusively tailored to online shoppers, and has quickly become the biggest online shopping day of the holiday season.
According to Forbes, Cyber Monday 2017 online sales approached $6.6 billion, smashing the previous year’s record. It was the biggest digital shopping day ever – and, thanks to deep discounts from a slew of well-known merchants, they’re projected to increase again this year.
If you don’t like dealing with crowds, waiting in line to complete your purchase, or working around stores’ open hours, Cyber Monday shopping is a pleasant alternative to in-store Black Friday shopping. But it’s not necessarily a walk in the park. The sheer volume of deals, the lack of certainty that you’re getting the best price at your chosen retailer, technical issues due to increased website traffic, and potentially out of stock items, can all negatively impact your Cyber Monday experience.
Use this Cyber Monday 2018 cheat sheet to home in on the Internet’s best deals and grab this year’s holiday shopping season by the horns. Unless otherwise noted, all Cyber Monday promotions are available at least from 12am Pacific Standard Time on Monday, November 26, 2018, until 12am PST on Tuesday, November 27, 2018. However, individual sales or deals may not be available during that entire period due to high demand or limited item stock. And many deals are active before Monday, some as early as a week in advance. Check with each merchant’s website for exact terms and conditions.

Best Buy
Shopping Best Buy‘s website on Cyber Monday is an attractive alternative to visiting a Best Buy store on Black Friday – though Best Buy is one of a growing number of retailers that offers Cyber Monday deals in-store and online. The season’s hottest gadgets are available at discounts of 50% or more, and refurbished equipment is often even cheaper. Check Best Buy’s Deals of the Day page for featured sales.
Best Buy is offering free shipping on all online purchases, all holiday season long, regardless of location or order size. Free same-day in-store pickup is also available in most locations.

eBay
eBay‘s Cyber Monday features sets of deals announced every hour, on the hour, good until the item runs out of stock or eBay chooses to discontinue them. The fun starts Thanksgiving week with a limited lineup of early Cyber Monday deals on a wide variety of merchandise. The best electronics deals typically feature refurbished items, so if you’re not absolutely set on the latest devices, you can notch truly impressive savings here.
Sign up for eBay’s Deal Alerts for real-time alerts on newly announced discounts up to 85%. Build credit this holiday season with the eBay Mastercard, which earns $50 bonus cash back when you open your account by December 30, 2018, and spend at least $150 on eBay within 30 days of account opening. Many eBay sellers offer free shipping – check item listings to confirm.

Amazon
Amazon is the largest and best-known online-only general merchandise retailer in the United States. You can buy almost anything new or gently used on Amazon, including this year’s hottest electronics (and last year’s favorites). Amazon’s house-brand (Kindle) tablets and e-readers are comparable to competing brands, such as iPad and Samsung, but often significantly cheaper.
On Cyber Monday, Amazon is offering a series of one-day Deals of the Day, including in the small electronics category. Deals of the Day can slash prices upwards of 70% – but once item stock runs out, these deals are over. It’s also offering Lightning Deals, or flash sales covering specific items, at various points throughout the day. Check Amazon’s Gold Box Deals for up-to-date info on both.
Amazon Prime members get free two-day shipping on all purchases, while Prime customers in Prime Now markets (most major cities and their suburbs) can get one-hour delivery on most purchases. Prime customers get early access to certain deals too – look for the “Prime Early Access Deal” caption under participating items. Many, though not all, Amazon Cyber Monday deals run through Saturday, December 1, 2018.

Newegg is an online-only retailer that focuses almost exclusively on new and refurbished electronics. While Newegg’s onsite deals are impressive enough (30% to 50% or more on the most recent electronics), Newegg-exclusive coupon codes are the real money-savers here. Walmart
Walmart has the country’s most expansive network of physical general merchandise stores, and it’s increasingly a digital force to be reckoned with as well. Cyber Monday TV discounts exceed 30% in many cases.
You can save an extra $35 when you open a Walmart Credit Card from Mastercard and spend at least $75 on your first purchase. Walmart also offers free same-day in-store pickup for most online orders and free shipping on purchases greater than $50.

Amazon has a full selection of TVs, including super high-end UHD models. But its wheelhouse is in the smaller, more affordable categories, such as Roku’s “kitchen-sized” Smart TVs, which come with a streaming entertainment system built in. Check back often – Amazon’s electronics deals rarely last long.

Best Buy
Best Buy is a great place to find the latest televisions at competitive prices. The free shipping policy comes in super-handy here, since larger TVs normally cost a boatload to ship. If you don’t trust a delivery team with your new TV, opt for same-day in-store pickup.

eBay
eBay is a great place to find television deals at any time of year, particularly on gently used and refurbished models. Cyber Monday takes the savings – and sheer number of deals – to a whole other level. If your heart isn’t set on the latest, largest television models, you’ll find a plethora of smaller, slightly older televisions (many still functionally new) at discounts of up to 50% of new retail value.

Newegg

Best Buy
Best Buy’s Cyber Monday deals apply to the retailer’s entire stock of new and refurbished laptops and PCs, occasionally at discounts as high as 50%. Although you can’t talk to a live sales associate online, Best Buy’s detailed product descriptions and reviews make it easy to do research on the fly. And the expert Geek Squad tech support team is available to assist you down the road, should anything go wrong with your Cyber Monday purchase.
Hot Deal: HP 14″ touchscreen Chromebook with Intel Celeron (4GB memory, 32GB eMMC flash memory), $249 (normally $299)
Dell
If you’re in the market for a Dell laptop or PC, Dell is probably your best bet on Cyber Monday. With no middleman to encroach on its margins, Dell is offering discounts upwards of 50% on select laptop and PC models, including Inspiron. Dell Advantage customers get exclusive doorbuster deals every day; it’s free to join and costs nothing to keep your membership going. Even if you’re not interested in Dell Advantage, take a minute to sign up for Dell’s real-time Cyber Monday email alerts, which actually start pouring in several days before the big event.
Select products qualify for Dell’s price match guarantee – so, if you find a lower marked price elsewhere, check with Dell before you buy.
Dell is also offering six-month special financing (0% interest) on holiday-season purchases of $199 or more and 12-month 0% interest financing on purchases of $899 or more. To qualify for special financing, you need to open a Dell Preferred Account, which requires a credit application.
Hot Deal: Dell Inspiron 15 5000 laptop, $479.99 (normally $658.99)
Microsoft Store
Although it definitely pushes its in-house brands, the Microsoft Store doesn’t exclusively sell Microsoft products. On Cyber Monday, Microsoft offers deep discounts on laptops and PCs from Toshiba, ASUS, Acer, and other well-known brands. Watch for package deals that stretch your dollars even further, such as 10 free game downloads with the purchases of select laptops. All online orders come with free standard shipping and free returns for the duration of the holiday shopping season.
Hot Deal: Up to $350 off select Microsoft PCs, laptops, and 2-in-1s
eBay
eBay’s laptop and PC stock is impressive at any time of year, and Cyber Monday brings out the big-gun deals. Discounts of 50% to 60% on brand-name devices abound here. However, remember that not all eBay sellers offer free or discounted shipping on large orders. To avoid unpleasant surprises, confirm the shipping charge (if any) on bulky PC purchases prior to completing your order.

It’s no surprise that Amazon is a top destination for Cyber Monday laptop and PC deals. Amazon’s Deals of the Day, Lightning Deals, and Gold Box notifications all apply to its laptop and PC stock as well. If you plan to be out and about this Cyber Monday, install Amazon’s mobile app, visit your favorite big-box electronics stores, compare in-store deals with Amazon’s, and take advantage of any that prove too enticing to ignore.

eBay
eBay’s Cyber Monday deals cover toys for all ages, from stuffed animals and play sets, to golf clubs and sporting goods. Although it’s possible to find steep discounts (30% to 60%, in many cases) on new items, the best deals are arguably found amid eBay’s gently used stock. If you’re willing to do some research to evaluate product quality and condition, you could walk away with a big gift haul at a fraction of list price. Lots of eBay toys come with free shipping too.

Cabela’s
Cabela’s is an outdoor sports outfitter with a network of large-format stores in the United States and Canada. Its website is a great place to find Cyber Monday deals on toys for all ages, from hunting and fishing equipment to age-appropriate toys for toddlers and small children. Starting in 2016, Cabela’s dramatically expanded the breadth of its Cyber Monday discounts into a week-long Cyber Week promotion.

Home Depot
If you’re buying gifts for handy family members or need to tackle a home improvement project of your own, Home Depot‘s website needs to be high on your shopping list. Check out one-day-only Special Buy of the Day deals for savings up to 50%. Apply for a Home Depot Consumer Credit Card to up to 24 months special financing on select purchases and one-year hassle-free returns. Shipping is free on online orders of $45 or more, and it’s always free to pick up in-store.

Lowe’s
When it comes to Cyber Monday home improvement deals, Lowe’s is every bit as impressive as Home Depot. Take advantage of free in-store pickup for virtually any online order, and earn free shipping on online orders of $49 or more (excluding bulky items). MyLowes members get free shipping on everything, plus a slew of other benefits. Look for Cyber Week deals that run for variable periods before and after Cyber Monday itself.

Overstock.com
Overstock.com is an online-only store that focuses on home goods, furniture, and decorations, among many other item categories. It’s offering upwards of 50% off select home goods products on Cyber Monday, as well as an additional 12% off site-wide for shoppers who sign up for its email alerts list, and a slew of other category-based discounts.
There’s more. Overstock is also extending its Black Friday “Doorbusters” sale for up to 70% off in select product categories, though it’s unclear if it will last through the end of Cyber Monday. Clearance sales, which run year-round but really ramp up around the holidays, promise up to 75% off. All online orders over $45 earn free shipping.

Wayfair
Wayfair is an online-only retailer that offers a full range of furniture, home goods, decorations, and other items for your home and garden. Its Cyber Week sale merges Black Friday and Cyber Monday for a continuous slew of discounts (up to 80% on select items) through the end of November. All purchases made from 11/22/18 to 11/26/18 should come with free shipping, but check your item’s fine print to confirm.
Hot Deal: 70% off select items sitewide
Amazon
Although it’s probably not your first thought for home improvement products and decorative items, Amazon has an expansive stock. Don’t forget to check its Lightning Deals and Deals of the Day for exceptionally deep discounts (north of 70% in some cases) on name-brand and off-brand products. Stretch your dollars further and focus on refurbished (often like-new) items, which typically sell for less than their brand-new counterparts.
Hot Deal: 40% off select Dyson cordless vacuums
eBay
eBay isn’t at the top of every home improvement shopper’s list, but the auction giant has made real strides on this front in recent years. If you’re not keen on browsing the aisles at your local Home Depot or Lowe’s this holiday season, eBay is worth a visit.

Macy’s

Opt for in-store pickup and get another 15% to 20% off on in-store purchases. And don’t forget to download the Macy’s shopping app – you’ll get $25 off your first purchase.
Hot Deal: Select kids’ puffer jackets, $15.99 (normally $75 and up)
Kohl’s
Kohl’s is a popular retailer that focuses on clothing, home goods, and general merchandise. Check for periodic free shipping offers (typically on orders greater than $50) throughout the holiday season. Cyber Monday discounts exceed 50% on many name-brand clothing items, with bargain brands selling for even more. The multi-day fun – Cyber Days – starts on Saturday and runs through the week.
Most buys come with free in-store pickup, but check before you purchase to make sure. If you can’t wait for Cyber Monday, shop the week before to receive $15 Kohl’s Cash (basically, a $15 discount) for every $50 spent.
Also, you get 15% off your first order when you sign up for Kohl’s email sale alerts – you can always adjust your email settings to make these prompts less obtrusive.

Gap
Gap is slashing prices on select clothing and jewelry items by 50% to 70% in the run-up to Thanksgiving. If you’re getting an early start on Cyber Monday shopping, use the promo code GIFT to get 40% off storewide through Black Friday. Or use your GapCard to earn 50% off sitewide with code ‘CARDBF’, plus an extra 10% off with code ‘PLUS10’. If you’re a first- time GapCard user, you’ll get 20% off your first purchase.

Old Navy
Old Navy‘s Cyber Monday sale sees prices slashed by 40% or more on select categories. (If you’re getting an early start on Cyber Monday shopping, everything in the store is 40% off through Thanksgiving weekend.) Shipping is free on orders over $50. Earn an extra 25% off when you sign up for the Old Navy Visa Card and make your first purchase.

Sears/Kenmore
Through its in-house Kenmore brand, Sears offers great online deals on a wide range of home appliances – you can plan on site-wide discounts of 30% to 40% on most appliances, and even higher on select models. Most Cyber Monday deals actually last from Sunday through Tuesday, lengthening your window for deep savings.
All appliance purchases greater than $399 come with free delivery. Delivery charges for cheaper items vary based on fulfillment location (usually a store or distribution center), destination, and appliance size/weight, but can range up to $99. Haul away services (for old appliances) typically cost $15 per item. Installation comes with an additional charge that varies based on the type of appliance and amount of work required.
Hot Deal: Kenmore washer and dryer (select models), $529 (normally $1,059)
Home Depot
In 2018, Home Depot is offering 40% off select major appliances, plus instant savings up to $500 when you buy multiple appliances at once. Appliance purchases of less than $396 carry a $59 delivery fee, plus an additional haul away charge. These charges may vary by location, so check ahead with your store.
Regardless of location, orders over $396 come with free delivery and haul away. The delivery team hooks up washers, dryers, refrigerators, and plug-in appliances at no additional charge. Dishwashers, ranges, and certain other appliances are extra.
Hot Deal: Up to 50% off select Milwaukee power tools and accessories
Lowe’s
For orders over $399, Lowe’s offers free delivery and haul away on orders made less than 75 miles from the fulfillment location (typically a Lowe’s store). Also, Lowe’s delivery teams claim they are happy to relocate old appliances within the house for free. You have to pay extra to hook up or install new appliances, however. Select items qualify for rebates up to $500 – see listings and flyers for details.

Walmart
Walmart is a great place to pick up discounted appliances in person. But on Cyber Monday, the deals are even better online. Stretch your dollars further with free 3- to 5-day shipping on orders of $35 or more, or opt for free in-store pickup if you have a vehicle large enough to carry your appliance.
If you do feel like picking up your appliance purchase this Cyber Monday, know that select Walmart appliances qualify for pickup discounts – effectively, a price reduction for giving Walmart a break on shipping.
Hot Deal: iRobot Roomba 960 Wi-Fi Connected Robot Vacuum, $449.99 (normally $699.99)
Though you may not find Cyber Monday deals on gift cards, they’re a great way to round out your online gift shopping spree for friends and loved ones who are hard to buy for.
Dozens of websites allow you to buy, sell, and redeem gift cards from hundreds or thousands of merchants at discounts to face value, meaning you don’t have to contact each merchant directly to procure the cards. And, if you’re on the receiving end of any gift cards this holiday season, remember that you can use some of these websites to dispose of unwanted gift cards – and earn some extra cash for your troubles.
Raise
Raise is a gift card broker that connects unwanted gift card holders with people looking for discounted gift cards. Digital and physical gift cards (typically carrying nominal shipping fees) are available here, with hundreds of brands represented – from Walmart and Target, to Sephora and Dell. For buyers, discounts of 1% to 10% of face value are common, though it’s possible to find discounts of 20% or more on less popular brands. Sellers can earn up to 85% of their cards’ face value.
CardCash
CardCash became “the largest gift card exchange in the world” (its words) after acquiring Plastic Jungle, an early pioneer in the online gift card niche. Hundreds of merchants are represented here, including recognizable, national brands like Ace Hardware and Sears.
CardCash sells gift cards at discounts of up to 40% off face value, with less popular or widespread brands commanding deeper discounts. Each card’s full balance is guaranteed for 45 days after the sale. CardCash pays up to 92% of face value for traded-in gift cards, though less popular merchants’ cards command significantly less. Cards are available in plastic (the cost of which includes a nominal shipping fee) and digital forms.
Gift Card Granny
Gift Card Granny is like an online gift card discount warehouse. The site features cards from hundreds of recognizable merchants, including Subway and T.J.Maxx, and sells cards at discounts up to 40% of face value – though, like its competitors, it offers milder discounts on the best-known and widest-spread brands. Cards are available in plastic and digital form. Plastic cards normally come with a nominal shipping fee, but Gift Card Granny frequently waives shipping during the holidays. Gift Card Granny pays up to 93% of face value for unused, unwanted gift cards.
One of the nicest perks of Gift Card Granny is its Gift Trends feature, which shows the total number of gift cards available for purchase on the site at any given time, as well as the average discount available.
GiftCards.com
GiftCards.com sells Visa and MasterCard gift cards, as well as new gift cards issued by national retailers like CVS and JCPenney, at full face value. Cards are available in plastic (shipping is free) and electronic form. One of the big perks of GiftCards.com is that merchant loyalty program members earn loyalty points or cash back rewards (depending on the program) when they purchase gift cards from applicable merchants.
Amazon
Amazon doesn’t specialize in third-party gift cards like the other sites mentioned here, but it’s worth including simply because, as Amazon sells pretty much everything, its digital gift cards are nearly as versatile as cash. They can be loaded with any amount between $0.50 and $2,000, so they’re perfect for basically all budgets and recipients.
While you don’t have to set up a tent next to your computer to ensure that you’re the first one through the virtual gate this Cyber Monday, you’re apt to find the best deals and deepest discounts if you hit your favorite retailers’ websites as soon as their sales begin. This is especially important for online retailers that rely on third-party sellers, such as eBay and Amazon.
To stretch your dollars even further, combine your early-bird approach with these handy Cyber Monday shopping tips – and throw in some holdovers from your Black Friday shopping strategy for good measure. And, remember that some brick-and-mortar retailers offer special in-store Cyber Monday pricing as well.
With careful planning and faithful execution, your Cyber Monday is bound to be successful. But don’t worry if you’re not able to find everything you set out to buy at the deeply discounted prices you expect. There’s no shame in suspending your holiday gift-buying drive at the conclusion of a long Cyber Monday. After all, for most merchants, Cyber Monday isn’t the last blowout sales day of the holiday season.
