Hello, I’m 20 years old and suffer with anxiety which causes me to worry & overthink a lot… I’ve been bloated for over 2 weeks, discomfort in my upper abdomen & navel sometimes but not pain, I originally thought this was to do with my menatrol cycle as I suffer badly with them, but whist reading online it’s pointing me in the direction of many things, one being cancer I know due to my age this is very rare, but I would hate to let this lie when it may be something or nothing, I’ve got a 3 year old little boy to think about now, my doctors have given me a few weeks to wait for an appointment after 6 phone calls to them, does anyone know if this will be okay or should I be worried about waiting so long, although this could be nothing, I’d hate to miss the early signs that could be what saves me life

Symptoms can come on for lots of different reasons and most of the time things will settle after a little while and the cause won’t be anything as serious as a cancer, so try not to worry. Bloating also can be caused by many different things such as food intolerances, irritable bowel syndrome, constipation and more besides that you can read about here on the NHS web pages.
It is good to hear you have spoken to your doctors about this over the telephone and they have said to give it a few weeks to see if it settles by itself before seeing you face to face. Of course if the symptoms get worse in that time do speak to them again as they may suggest some things that may help or they might offer an appointment to see you sooner.
Try and avoid searching on line searching for answers as this is much more likely to cause you even more unnecessary worry.
