I Suck At Making Choices
Decision-making seems so final. Maybe that’s why I’m so terrible at it. It’s so damn difficult to just choose one thing and only one thing.
Today, I’m still reeling from telling a poly man that I can’t keep hoping for us to work out anymore. But let’s be honest. I’m heartbroken about having to make the decision and what I really want from him is to decide I’m worth keeping.
I want to hear that I matter, and then see him take action to prove it. I want him to make plans with me that he won’t cancel or cut early. I want him to want me.
I want too much of practically everything–there’s simply no way around that.
If I put my foot down and make a decision to end a relationship that isn’t working, I can be proud of myself for “doing the right thing.” And that’s something. Except, I want more. Being “right” or even proud of myself isn’t enough.
I don’t want to live with the consequences of someone I love being angry with me. Or hurt by me. Or never speaking to me again. I don’t want those things to even be things.
I want to do the right thing, have some damn self-respect, and matter enough to him to make up. To work this out.
See? I want it all.
Ultimately, it’s the same problem when I buy food. If I place an order for delivery, I don’t know how to choose. One choice is boring. One choice isn’t me.
