Starting in January I’ve had this pain in my lower left side that radiates around my back and down my front pelvic area. I’ve had a transvaginal ultrasound showed nothing, blood and urine are clear, I have irregular very heavy with a lot of clotting menstruation. A few weeks ago I had laparoscopy looking for endometriosis nothing. My dr noted I have a very deep pelvis which is odd I’m only 5’1. I’ve had an endometrial biopsy come back clear. This pain was so intense in January I was unable to walk I missed over a months worth of work. When I massage my back where it hurts there is a hard “mass” I have no idea what it could be. The pain feels as if I’m walking around with a 10 ft sword protruding from my body and hitting it on everything. My obgyn is setting me under with a gastroenterologist we want to exhaust all other possibilities before removing my uterus and tubes hoping that will store the pain. I do have constipation recently started having mucous pass with my bowel movements when I’m able to pass them. Also, I started having pretty intense rectal pain during bowel movements even though they are seemingly soft.
Has anyone else experienced this?

I’ve had 50% of your symptoms. I suggest you get the CT scan to include your left kidney. That’s what mine was so it’s a thought you might consider.

Hi @sankerit , what was your diagnosis, or what did they find if you don’t mind me asking?

I have EXACTLY your symptoms but mine is all on my right side – it makes me limp when i walk because the pain can be so intense – i get ‘flare ups’ of pain that lasts for weeks at a time then perhaps a few days of relief and when i’m lucky a couple of weeks but it’s ALWAYS there, just in different intensities!
15 months ago i had a smear come back with mild dyskaryosis – my repeat last week came back with severe Dyskaryosis – i do wonder if this has something to do with my pain but i’m also seeing the doctor for intense back ache (had that for years)! which he’s finally referred me for a lower back MRI to see what (if anything) is going on in there….. Everything feels linked to me ! I have ? unpredictable bowes – hard soft and explosive (with ridiculous amounts of gas)!
it’s a scary journey ! Awaiting my referral appointment to follow up the smear results again – I’m going to request a total hysterectomy! I am 44 with 3 children (18, and 9yr old twins) so i don’t need it any more – i really hope they will consider this as an option – but not sure how that would work!
I don’t feel a mass when i massage my back but i am in constant pain with it – I totally get your desctiption of the sword! It feels like it’s going in from a specific part of my spine, through my hip and at a diagonal from my hip to my groin through my pelvis – and sometime s it’s like there are ice picks coming off the sword in different directions and jabbing me at different points………
massive empathy – I hope we both get answers and appropriate treatments asap – it’s so draining x

Just another thought – have you been checked for Sciatica? your mass could be knotted muscles in that area – a herniated disc can also cause these symptoms (bowel, pelvic and sword pain) but wouldn’t explain the heavy and clotted periods – I’m not sure what age you are? I’m 44 and have the same x

Hello! I have very similar, my mum was massaging my back and noticed a swollen patch on my back where I am in extreme pain. I feel like it has been a runaround with the NHS.
Did you ever resolve your issue?
Thanks!

My pain is lower left near kidneys. I have recently had a run of blood work but nothing has come back positive except for my IGM being high and H Pylori positive.

It’s been a long time and a difficult journey since my last post in March. The CT scan showed a kidney mass (which x-ray didn’t spot). It turned out to be an agressive high grade 3 carcinoma which necessitated the kidney remmoval. That was a success but abdominal complications meant that I had to spend extra nine days in hospital. Aftercare (chemotherapy) lasted 3 months and was a real chore. Now happily, all is over and I feel fine. Bladder cystoscopy is usual in these cases and mine showed a couple of cancer precursors but NOT cancer. They were removed and I now follow a three month check-up routine.
My advice is…….Do not take “no” for an answer when suffering these kinds of pains – force the doctor to arrange a CT scan. You have nothing to lose and, as in my case, a life to win!

Hi. Did you have bloods etc taken that had come back negative before this was found?
I’ve had pelvic pain now for over 4.5 years. I’ve had ultra sound, x-ray, mri, a laprosoptony and full bloods. I’ve had a local anaesthetic injection today and the pain is still there. I’ve had gabapentin for months with no pain relief. I’m at a total loss and so is the doctors but I have to keep going cause I’m in agony. Standing in a queue is like torture …that’s when it hurts the most. Nothing takes the pain away but some days are better than others. I did find that it peaked when I was about to have a period but I now have a marina coil so I have no idea when I would menstuate. Been told the gyni wise I’m healthy??? I am only 32 so don’t want to feel I can’t even queue for an ice cream :'(

My blood tests showed no problems with my kidney. They were only found after CT scan for abdominal pains.
The kind of pains you describe are similar to those from which I am still currently suffering. These, however, have been diagnosed as a double hernia but, in your case, they would have probably been seen on an xray or CT scan provided they looked in the right place. Check with your GP whether hernia is a possibility and Good Luck!

Hi Sankerit,
What were your main symptoms if you don’t mind me asking?
I have right side pain lower back which radiates around the side and lower abdomen/groin. I sometimes have pain in my lower abdomen when I wee. I’ve had blood tests which came back fine. I have an ultrasound and transviginal scan booked in for next Thursday.
