This is not an efile.com policy but an IRS and state agency policy. Many taxpayers have asked how they can only prepare and file a state income tax return. The efile.com tax application lets you prepare a state tax return only, however you cannot efile the state return upon completion. Instead, you will have to download the completed state tax return as a PDF file, print it, sign it, and mail it to the respective state – the address is on the PDF file. If your Oklahoma state return was rejected by the state and not efile.com, you will receive an error reject code. If you are certain that you cannot file your Oklahoma return by the deadline, you do not need to file for an extension. You will automatically receive a 6-month extension of time to file your return (not to pay). The extended tax return due date is October 15, 2019. Please be aware that Oklahoma will not accept the federal extension form as an extension for your Oklahoma tax return. However, if you expect to owe income taxes, you should submit your payment with payment voucher Form 504-I. If you efiled your return and are making a payment by check or money order, you must complete a Form 504-I on efile.com. If you are making a payment by credit card, a Form 504-I is not needed. If you are making an automatic extension payment, you also must use Form 504-I unless it is made electronically. Oklahoma has a 4.5% sales tax rate. State law allows incorporated towns, counties, and cities to levy local sales and use taxes for general and specific purposes of municipal governments.
OK residents who live in the state for the entire Tax Year and have a total gross household income of $20,000 or less can file for sales tax relief. If OK taxpayers are 65 years old or older, can claim an exemption for a dependent, or are physically disabled and make up to $50,000, they are also eligible for sales tax relief.

Oklahoma holds one annual sales tax holiday. During this holiday, certain items are exempt from Oklahoma sales tax. It usually occurs on the first weekend of August (midnight Friday through midnight Sunday). However, OK consumers will only receive the tax exemption if a specific total spending limit is met.

Oklahoma property taxes are paid based on the value of an OK taxpayer’s personal property.The county assessor, a locally elected officeholder, determines the value of most personal property in the county.
Taxpayers who own tangible personal property in Oklahoma must file a property tax return with each county where property was located on Jan. 1 of each Tax Year on or before the following March 15. Personal property is then assessed at an amount between 10% and 15% of its fair cash value.
There is a $1,000 homestead exemption of the property’s assessed valuation available to homeowners who lived in their properties as of January 1. Homeowners can claim a credit for or refund of property taxes by filing Form 538-H.
The Oklahoma state tax agency has a “Top 100 Tax Delinquencies” list posted on its website. It contains individuals and businesses who owe delinquent taxes, including penalties, fees, interest, and costs over $25,000 which have been unpaid for more than 90 days and for which a tax warrant has been filed.
