We did it! We made it to $22,000!
Everyone at the $250 and above level will get a “Sometimes the Beans Come Out” T-shirt and Holler Roast is making tons of progress toward getting our new roaster installed with a venting hood, cooling table and upgraded commercial coffee grinder.
I have been scratching my head wondering how to fit this all in the roasting camper – it is only a 10 by 14 space with rather low ceilings. What to do….what to do…?
Right as we were nearing the latest benchmark, guess what I found? A prefabricated shed-to-building ALREADY FINISHED! This will save us so much time over getting a newly fabricated one and finishing it. Better yet, with building materials up 15%, the used building costs a little less than an UNFINISHED one of similar size.
So here is the thing. It will end up costing about $7,000 to purchase and move this building. We are $8,000 from reaching $30,000. I have some savings set aside to help expand the business, so let’s do this!
Let’s go for $30,000 and a new building.

Yesterday, when we saw that Daniel had propelled us over the second stretch goal, we did a happy dance inside the house. Then we walked outside and shared the great news. You see, we host an annual event at which we serve food that includes fresh-roasted Hatch green chile peppers, so there were guests at the Holler tasting this year’s batch. They cheered. It was fun.
Then Daniel sent a text message asking what the next goal is, so here we go!
Our next goal is – gasp – $22,000.

Wow! What a day – we made our first stretch goal. This means every single backer will get a copy of Amy Dingmann’s books: It’s Not About Money: Except When It Is and The Homeschool Highway: How to Navigate Your Way Without Getting Carsick.
I can’t begin to explain how thankful I am that Amy has shared her books with us as part of this effort.
We’ve had a ton of support from John and Amanda Willis over at Special Operations Equipment too. In fact, John has offered up some toiletry bags, tool bags and daypacks that we can use to sweeten the perk pot. These things are badass in multicam black with red thread and they will be custom embroidered with the Holler Roast Logo. Very limited stock!
The next stretch goal is $18,000 – and at this amount we will be able to build the bean cooling table that we need in order to cool beans quickly and preserve the best flavor in the roast. In order to get there, we have added 5 seats to the $1,000 support level. There will be no more seats at this level beyond 10 because Patrick at MT Knives only had 10 extra neck knives available that can be custom engraved.
We have added a new Perk level: SOE Good which combines coffee and a custom SOE toiletry bag and coffee with John and Amanda for $200. There are only SIX total available so get them while you can. If you want to upgrade to this level, please fill out this form.

We did it! We reached the goal in only two days at about noon today.
I am stunned. In shock, really. I haven’t known exactly the best way to tell you all thank you – or to share with you what happens next.
We were planning to really launch this campaign on Monday. Today is Saturday and we have already reached the goal. We reached it while in Beta mode, where we shared it slowly and kind of quietly to ensure that the technology was really up to the job.
And in just two days, this project was funded.
Thank you to all of you who have emailed, texted, shared and commented. This is the biggest vote of confidence in Holler Roast that I have ever had.
WHAT IS NEXT
Already, some of you have chatted with me about what we will do next. For those of you who want to help me take this further, we decided today to go ahead and “launch” this campaign. You see, with the new roaster comes a need for additional equipment so as we reach further, we can quickly add the venting system we need, the bean cooler, bag filler and even perhaps a storage building for all these 150 pound bags of coffee — because increased capacity means increases in inventory.

And with new stretch goals come new perks for all of you who support Holler Roast. Some of them are pretty darn cool. We know you are going to love them.

Holler Roast Coffee had a roaster fire, and it took us two weeks and more than $500 to get back up and running. Thankfully, our customers were supportive and understanding, but we realized we could continue to pour profits into forcing the roaster to produce beyond its originally intended capacity – or do something better.
